Viviscal Pro Key Ingredients

In previous articles we have discussed the proven scientificly proven ability of AminoMar® to help regrow hair. Along with AminoMar Viviscal Pro utilizes a few new ingredients Apple Extract, L-Cystine, and L-Methionine which have replaced horsetail extract and millet seed extract. Lets see what the scientific basis is for swapping these ingredients.

Apple Extract

Scientific studies have confirmed that apple extract does have a positive impact on hair growth. In 2018 researchers discovered that Annurca apples from Southern Italy have one of the highest concentrations of Procyanidin B2. In this study subjects were given Annurca polyphenolic extract fortified with other minerals including maltodextrins, biotin, selenomethionine, and zinc acetate. After one month of the supplement regieme participants experienced a marked increase in hair growth, hair weight, keratin content and improved skin quality.

L-Cysteine

L-cysteine is a protein-forming amino acid that helps create protein. L-cysteine is needed for healthy hair as its one of the few amino acids that can form disulfide bonds (chemical bonds) in the body. Keratin is held together by disulfide bonds and this creates hairs fibrous properties that hold moisture. L-cysteine is vital for a full head of luscious hair.

The scientific bases of these claims were established in 2000. Scientists divided subjects experiencing hair loss into two groups. Group one was given L-cysteine, millet seed extract, and pantothenic acid. Group two was simple provided with a placebo. After three months the subjects provided with the L-cysteine cocktail experienced a reduction in hair loss and noticed new hair growth. However, the placebo group saw no change in hair loss.

L-Methionine

L-Methionine is an essential amino acid necessary for cellular health. Since L-Methionine is a building block of proteins (as are most amino acids) its often taken for hair health. The human body does not create L-Methionine so it needs to come from dietary sources such as eggs, meat, and some beans. Sulfur is one of the main parts of L-Methionine. Interestingly you also need Sulfur to create keratin and since methionine contains sulfur L-Methionine becomes critical to creating hair.
